About Exhibition

I create digital portraits that explore the intersection of identity, design, and emotion. In The Sentient Archive, I translate my research on personas into a visual language that blurs the boundaries between information design and human expression. Each of the fifteen characters in this series embodies a distinct synthesis of data and feeling. As a designer, researcher, and artist working at the intersection of visual communication, information design, and urban culture, I am interested in how visual systems can hold traces of humanity. My figures emerge from this inquiry: they are not depictions of real people but imagined identities, coded through color, repetition, and rhythm. They carry within them the paradox of our age where emotion and information constantly overlap, compete, and transform one another. Drawing allows me to navigate this terrain intuitively. Through these works, I investigate how faces can become containers of data, and how data can be infused with empathy. My digital illustrations reflect a belief that design can tell stories not through utility, but through resonance. I reimagine personas as living archives. The figures move between the mechanical, the mythological, and the human; they inhabit the liminal space where design becomes a language of emotion. The characters in The Sentient Archive are not portraits of individuals but speculative identities.

About Artist

I’m a designer, researcher and artist working at the intersection of visual communication, information design and urban culture. Currently, I’m an Assistant Professor of Visual Communication Design at Istanbul Bilgi University. I studied Visual Arts and Design/Graphic Design at Başkent University (2008) and completed my M.A. in Visual Communication Design at Yeditepe University (2012). Later, I earned my Ph.D. in Communication at Istanbul Bilgi University (2018). As an artist, my practice and research explore visual communication design, visual storytelling, and information design. Through my digital character illustrations, I translate my research on personas into visual narratives, using drawing as a way to explore how information, identity, and emotion intertwine. I’m also interested in the broader conversations around design ethics and the politics of design.
