About Exhibition
In my work, women’s social identity is addressed through different forms of representation. In some productions, the female figure is presented with a distinct, powerful, and aesthetic visibility; in other works, identity is deliberately transformed into an ambiguous form. This diversity aims to emphasize that identity is not a singular and fixed structure.
The fact that female identity is sometimes constructed in a clear manner and sometimes in an ambiguous manner reveals that identity is not merely a representation visible on the surface, but rather a structure that is shaped in deep layers and whose meaning can be transformed. The blurriness in the image is a critical reference to the obscuring of identity and the occasional invisibility of women’s social presence.
This approach aims to make visible that identity is not a static or absolute reality, but rather a phenomenon that is constantly negotiated and reconstructed through social structures and discourses.
About Artist
Sibel Pala was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1991. She graduated from the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in 2015 and completed her master’s degree in the Painting Department at the Institute of Fine Arts at Erciyes University in 2020. As of 2026, she has also completed her Art Proficiency program at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University and continues her academic and artistic work.
Pala has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions and develops her work within the context of contemporary art practices.
